I am curious to know if their was a bidding process on who would do the surveying and engineering of Lizard Lake. I would also like to know if more than one plan would be developed based on the surveying and engineering that has been done. After being surveyed to keep the public interest in the process, I believe that a meeting should be held based on the newly developed plans. I think more than one set of plans should be made, to keep the public interest alive in Lizard Lake. I say this, because I know that Ducks Unlimited is doing the engineering and surveying of the project. I also know from some of the e-mails that I have read that they do not want Lizard Lake to be turned into a big recreational lake. Having more than one plan developed for the lake would allow the public to decide, not DU's engineer's to decide on the make-up of the lake. Such as public beaches, boat dock positioning, and shoreline vegetation growth, etc.
I realize shallow lake management is a done deal, and I am not protesting it here. I am now looking at the future make-up of the lake in the public eye. If more than one plan is not developed for the make-up of Lizard Lake, and the plan does not include areas for the public to be able to fish from shore, or get easy boat access with the the new vegetation, I could then honestly say that the plans were created with a conflict of interest. I know their are DNR people that read these posts, and I am asking that when the engineering and planning that are being done next fall are done, more than one plan is developed, in order to get the best possible public input on the future usage of Lizard Lake.
