Friends of Lizard Lake,
Please call your friends family or whom ever. Let them know about this website. I am almost positive that if you grew up around Lizard Lake, then they might know where Lizard Lake is. They might of even fished there.
Let them know what is going on with the Lake. The more people there are the better we are. Lets stop being the little peon out there LETS LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD.
Will they listen I don't know but at least we might have a chance.
Thank you, WHAT IS A LIZARD

Hello, My name is Andrew Schachtner. My father Lennis was one of the first people to try and get Lizard Lake restored. Sadly he passed away before it was achieved. I have never been to a meeting, but I have heard what they talked about. I have talked to my relatives and they were wondering what happened to the idea of dredging Lizard Lake. I understand that the Iowa dnr and Ducks Unlimited have a program called Living Lakes. Which includes Lizard Lake in shallow lake management. Ducks Unlimited and IDNR want to restore 50 Lakes in 10 years. Back before Lizard Lake was studied, Shallow Lake management was already considered. There are over 300 people who would like to see Lizard Lake restored to what it use to be. By draining Lizard Lake, you are only allowing hunting and camping at the lake in my opinion. You will not be able to fish because of all the reeds, and restocking it with Pike will not do any good. Part of shallow lake management they will lower the lake a foot at its highest level, leaving the pike to die in the winter. I do not go out to Lizard Lake that often, I live in Illinois, But my Great Grandfather use to farm on land near the lake. I am afraid that by doing shallow lake management you will be destroying the beauty of Lizard Lake. Did you know they use to race speed boats on Lizard Lake. I would like to see Lizard Lake restored to its beauty for my kids kids. How do I go abouts getting this done. To whom shall I email write or call. What happened to dredging the lake in the 1950's Thank you for your time. Andrew W. Schachtner aschac05@yahoo.com I sent this to some one in the Dnr. I will wait for a response. Does any one have The gov. of Iowa email address. How about the senator email address. I have been watching this site for some time. In one blog 49 people have viewed it. WHY HAVE YOU NOT REPLIED? You may remain a secret if you would like. Please Please voice your opinoins. They might tell you it is to late, but it is not not till they start draining the lake. www.igsb.uiowa.edu/gsbpubs/pdf/WFS-2008-0411x17.pdf I do not belive that any option was considered but Shallow Lake Management. Yes you are right Millions. But if the iowa dnr and ducks unlimited waited to do some lakes, then there would be enough money to do all the lakes properly. Even if it took another 50 years. LETS NOT FIX LIZARD LAKE THE CHEAP WAY LETS FIX IT THE RIGHT WAY. Thankyou, WHAT IS A LIZARD
